What people forget at times is, Chanel sells skin care. Lux skin care. It can be easy to look over Chanel when going through Sephora, they have done such a great job branding themselves as the ultimate luxury in handbags and fragrances that people often forget they have a huge cosmetics line.
These items are on the pricey side so I am going to be brutally honest. Chanel skin care is mhe. I am measuring the quality based on packaging, application, price, and if it actually works.
Let’s start with my favorite: UV ESSENTIEL MULTI-PROTECTION DAILY DEFENSE SUNSCREEN ANTI-POLLUTION BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 50
-The name is long. Why do they need a name that long?
– I really enjoy the packaging. It is small and sleek, I hate when companies give you 1oz of product in a bottle that could hold 3oz. It is plastic so not luxurious glass, but it is a sun cream so I assume they did it for travel purposes.
– This smells very light, I usually do not like a lot of fragrance in my skin care. I hear it’s not good for your skin, so I try to stay away from it as much as I can. It dries to a matte finish, and has a slight lime green almost white color to it. Luckily it does not show up on the skin and on me blends in without a white cast.
-It is a pricy little thing. $55 for 1oz of product
-It does work, I mentioned it before in my favorites. This one is one of the best skin care items Chanel makes. It is amazing! If you are in the market for a pricy sun cream go and try this out.
Second on the list: HYDRA BEAUTY MICRO GEL YEUX INTENSE SMOOTHING EYE GEL
-This comes in a nice clear packaging, as you use up the product the little foot at the bottom rises to let you know how much you have used up. Does not feel heavy or expensive. I wish it did, it does however have the CCs on the top of the cap.
-It comes with a pump so everything stays very clean. There is a slight scent to the gel but it is barely detectable. It is a clear gel that absorbs into the skin quickly. This does have a bit of stickiness after you apply, but 10 min later it is gone.
-This is $68 for .5oz.
-This is the hydrating eye gel that Chanel makes. It doesn’t do anything other than add hydration. Usually these products are targeted towards younger skin because they don’t need all the anti aging properties. It does work, however the ingredients in this do not scream $68 to me. There is nothing special about it and I do not think it is worth the money.
Last and worst: LE WEEKEND DE CHANEL Weekly Renewing Face Care
-This is in the same kind of plastic packaging that the eye cream comes in. This is the one item I wish they had made more lux. I get that glass is not good for traveling so they didn’t use it, but at least make the cap and pump metal. Everything is plastic! This does not feel like an expensive skincare product.
-This has a scent. A very strong scent. It is an old school cosmetics powdery scent and I hate it! This is meant to be worn on the weekend day and night to resurface the skin. I do not want to spend my weekends with a headache from the perfume in my skincare. It lingers on your skin and you can smell it hours after you have applied it. I do not understand why they have chosen this smell and why they made it so strong.
-This is the one that makes your wallet cry. It is $115 for 1.7oz….yea. You get more product than the other two so price per oz is lower, but I can buy serums that are the same price and perfume free.
-This serum contains Glycolic Acid Complex and Rose Water, the purpose of the acid is to exfoliate the skin. I have used it per the instructions and do not see a huge difference in my skin. For the price and the strong scent I do not think this is worth it. If Chanel ever came out with a unscented version I might give it a second chance.
